Chapter Master of the Carcharodons

A fearsome Carcharodon warrior in the heat of combat, embodying the Chapter's savage nature

Tyberos the Red Wake, Chapter Master of the Carcharodons Astra — known colloquially as the Space Sharks — is one of the most mysterious and terrifying figures in the Adeptus Astartes. He commands a Chapter that exists on the very margins of the Empire, a fleet-based force that patrols the outer darkness beyond the light of the Astronomican, hunting the enemies of Mankind in the cold void between stars where no other Imperial force dares to tread. The Carcharodons are a Chapter shrouded in mystery, their origins lost to the mists of history, their methods brutal and uncompromising, their very existence known to only a handful of Imperial authorities. They emerge from the darkness periodically to fight the Empire's wars, appearing without warning in war zones across the galaxy, fighting with a savagery that unsettles even their allies, and then disappearing back into the void as silently as they came.
Tyberos himself is a figure of towering physical presence, enormous even by the standards of the transhuman warriors of the Adeptus Astartes. He stands head and shoulders above even his own warriors, his massive frame encased in ancient Terminator armour of a pattern that Chapter scholars have difficulty identifying, suggesting origins that predate the established records of the Imperium's armament. His face is rarely seen — he fights invariably in his full war-plate, his features hidden behind a helm that gives nothing away of the warrior within. Those who have glimpsed his face report features that are pale to the point of translucency, marked by the genetic peculiarities that affect many Carcharodons — the dark, shark-like eyes that give the Chapter its name, the elongated teeth that suggest some aberration in the Chapter's gene-seed, the overall impression of a predator wearing the shape of a man.
The name "Red Wake" was earned through a career of violence so relentless and so thorough that it has become synonymous with total annihilation. When Tyberos leads the Carcharodons into battle, he leaves nothing behind — no survivors, no salvage, no possibility of the enemy regrouping or recovering from the blow he has dealt. His campaigns are characterized by a totality of destruction that goes beyond military necessity into something that borders on the ritualistic, as though the act of killing itself holds some significance for the Carcharodons that outsiders cannot comprehend. He fights with the twin lightning claws known as Hunger and Slake, massive weapons that have been modified to accommodate his extraordinary size, their power fields crackling with energy as he tears through enemy formations with a speed and ferocity that seems impossible for a warrior in Terminator armour.
